Taru was the chief of a now extinct tribe of cannibalistic Ao-Oni (blue oni). He has tracked down Tarma's tribe hidden in the Forest of Shadows. He demanded that their chief fight him for leadership of the tribe. They really didn't have a chief, but they all looked up to Tarma for guidance. She was obligated to face him. She was no match for the elder Oni, and he quickly knocked her to the ground. But before he could deliver the fatal blow, her beloved tribe not wanting to see her die, set upon Taru. Knowing he could not take on the entire tribe, he ran off into the forest, threatening that he would return to chew their flesh from their bones and claim their heads for trophies.
