You now have your own character in Customize tab that you can copy, edit, thus basically extend your slots to 200. However, there are few minor catches:

1. Using the steps above, you can move characters from Unique tab to Customize, but not from Customize to Unique.
2. You can't edit their battle comments.
3. You can't share them over network
4. You can't use them in Ranked or Casual match

I personally see the drawback as minor loss compared to the gigantic 200 slots that allows me to keep all of my data and a lot of submission data. Have fun!
