Ariadne is Bacchus' wife. She would never have willingly married a cruel tyrant, but he threatened to have her family killed if she didn't. Many speculate as to why she always wears a gold mask. Some say she wears it because Bacchus doesn't want anyone, but himself to look upon her beauty, others says in a drunken rage he attacked and severely scarred her, and makes her wear the mask to cover up his deed from his people.
